Merike Taal
Transpersonal integrative psychotherapist
About Me
I am a fully qualified psychotherapist working in private practice. I have extensive experience working privately and in the charity sector, addressing a wide range of issues such as suicidal thoughts, grief, loss, isolation, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, identity struggles, trauma, and abuse.I'm deeply passionate about the connection between body and mind. Drawing from my background as a dancer, long-distance runner, and Vipassana meditation practitioner,
I’ve spent years exploring the interplay and boundaries of the body, emotions, mind, and spirit.I trained for five years at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in London. I hold a postgraduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with further training in dream work at the Dreams Research Institute in London. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a journalist and marketing manager. I am fluent in English, Estonian and Russian. I hold a BA in journalism and PR.As a therapist, I’m dedicated to helping clients achieve greater harmony and a deeper understanding of themselves, leading to increased self-awareness, improved self-esteem, and greater self-acceptance.
What I Offer
I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and confidential space where clients can feel comfortable opening up, allowing us to explore the challenges that have led them to therapy. In our sessions, I’m simply a person sitting alongside another person. By bringing my own presence to the encounter, I aim to understand what it’s like to live your life and navigate your experiences.Together, through our conversations, we develop a shared understanding of what those experiences feel like. It’s an opportunity for you to share your story, be truly heard, and feel accepted. Along the way, I aim to gently challenge assumptions about yourself, bringing awareness to things that might be outside of your conscious perception. This process often leads to valuable insights, enhancing your self-understanding.As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw from a variety of approaches – including Humanistic, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Transpersonal – tailoring my approach to what will be most beneficial for you. I am a dream therapist and I incorporate dream analysis and interpretation in my practice - I can help you to find purpose and meaning of your dreams and explore how dreams could contribute to your mental health and wellbeing.
